About

Melanie Leigh Wilbur is a commercial photographer based in Los Angeles, CA.  She has been shooting professionally for over 10 years for a diverse client list that includes Newsweek, Planned Parenthood, StockShop and many others.  Her event coverage for Newsweek has provided the opportunity to photograph everyone from Daniel Day Lewis to the notorious Sarah Palin.

She has a passion for music and has dedicated much time to documenting her local music scene in the Los Angeles neighborhoods of Silverlake, Echo Park and beyond.  Currently, she is working on a book featuring her images of the Clean Air Clear Stars festival, a non-profit indie music fest that has been held annually in Pioneertown since 2007.

From an early age, she was obsessed with documenting everything and fascinated by the nostalgia of captured moments.  Receiving her BA in film and video production from UC Santa Cruz helped feed her love for imagery, light and storytelling as well as grow her skills as a visual artist. Additionally, she completed the commercial photography program at Santa Monica College where she refined her still photography technique.

Melanie is experienced in the studio, working with professional lighting and with shooting on location. She is available for events, production stills, portraiture, weddings, commercial and editorial work.
