Melanie is a commercial photographer based in Los Angeles, CA. From an early age, she became obsessed with documenting everything and fascinated by the nostalgia of captured moments. She has been shooting professionally for over 10 years for a diverse client list.
The Atlantic contracted Melanie to provide exclusive coverage of the 2014 CityLab conference, featuring mayors and innovators from around the globe. She has also photographed multiple music and film festivals. Her images from the 2014 Los Angeles Film Festival can be viewed and licensed through Wire Image and Getty Images. She has worked with Newsweek on numerous occasions to provide exclusive event coverage of invitation only events such as The Annual Women & Leadership Conference and The Oscar Roundtable Symposiums. A few of the attendees she has had the pleasure of photographing have included George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Kate Walsh, Geena Davis, and Daniel Day-Lewis.
The photo agency StockShop represented her lifestyle and travel imagery from 2006 until their closure in 2012. During those years, she also contributed in various other ways including managing a team of photographers, curating content for the collection and co-producing assignment shoots with the agencies corporate clients which included Verizon and Capital One.
Receiving her BA in film and video production from UC Santa Cruz helped feed her love for imagery, light and storytelling as well as grow her skills as a visual artist. She can sometimes be found on film sets taking production stills. Additionally, she completed the commercial photography program at Santa Monica College where she further refined her still photography technique.
Melanie is experienced in the studio, working with professional lighting and with shooting on location. She is available for events, production stills, portraiture, commercial and editorial work.
